I have not seen "The Passion" and I probably won't!
I'm perfectly content to read the numerous reviews and comments of
others.
Besides, I'm afraid the person sitting next to me will
start "speaking in tongues." And I HATE when people talk during the
movie!
This movie has been described as a RELIGIOUS SLASHER FILM.
OR, A SUNDAY SCHOOL "SMACKDOWN!"
But, parents had better leave the kids home with a tape of the Super
Bowl half-time show! It's less shocking.
Mostly, I'm just culturally embarassed by this movie. Would the
Buddists ever make a movie like this? Of course not!
What kind of religion glorys in violence and pain and suffering?

The early years of this century have been described as another GREAT
AWAKENING of religious furvor. But I'll take a rain check thanks.
The JUDEO-CHRISTIAN-ISLAMIC religions rely too much on THE VENGENCE
OF GOD! THEY ARE "PATERNALISTIC" RELIGIONS WHERE PAIN AND PUNISHMENT
ARE THE NORM!
Eastern religion tends toward unity and harmony and the "oneness" of
all things. In the East the world is essentially a good place.
And, suffering and pain come from straying too from this "Middle
Way" of harmony. Or, from going against the "harmony" that is the
normal state of things. These Religions are sometimes
called "maternalistic."
The Eastern religious tradition does not see man as "evil," there is
no "orignial sin" that condenms a person from birth!
In the east to be "evil" is to have strayed too far off the normal
path---perhaps desires and wants have blinded these "lost" ones?
IF "THE PASSION" IS WHAT THE JUDEO-CHRISTIAN-ISLAMIC TRADITION IS ALL
ABOUT, I'M GLAD I'M AN AGNOSTIC!
AND I KNOW ONE THING FOR SURE. GOD'S ON MY SIDE!
