ADVICE TO KRUGMAN: WHY LIBERALS LOSE

If I could give Paul Krugman, and other "liberals," some advice it
would be only one word: PRONOUNS! It's really all about PRONOUNS!

Consider:

Liberals and intellectuals are the ultimate "We-thinkers," and
conservatives and the less intelligent are really "Me-thinkers."

What liberals don't realize is that "we-thinking" is a luxury that
only a few can afford; everyone else is worried about, WHAT'S IN IT
FOR ME!

Now, if you believe that all of this conservative "me thinking" will
benefit society through the infamous "invisible hand" which raises
all boats; fine.

But unfortunately, in our complex modern economy, Me-Thinking more
often leads to a crisis.

ONLY WHEN A MAJOR CRISIS OCCURS DO THE "ME THINKERS" SEE THE BENEFITS
OF LIBERAL "WE THINKING."

The rich eventually saw the "benefits" of FDR's Social Security, for
example. Although now they want to abolish it. again!

Understood?

What liberals don't see is that logic and reason and "good policy"
have NOTHING at all to do with it.

Because;

ME THINKING IS AS RAMPANT IN THE SUBURBS AS IN THE INTER-CITY
GHETTO!

WHO IS MORE "ME" ORIENTED THAT THE SUBURBAN DWELLER! THE SOCCER MOM
AND THE NASCAR DAD?

OR INDEED, THE GHETTO RAPPER AND GANGSTA!

People simply do not think about THE BIG PICTURE.

They do not think in terms of what is good for "everybody."

Our "we thinking" used to be done by the liberal press, as a public
service. Alas, until recently.

Now a "vast right wing conspiracy" of THE RICH AND THE STUPID is in
full bloom in the US;

And nothing can stop it.

IT'S SIMPLY GOING TO HAVE TO "HIT BOTTOM," BEFORE "WE" CAN PICK UP
THE PIECES, AND START OVER LIKE IN THE 1930's.

But why is "liberalism" possible in the rest of the world, as in
Europe, for example; but not in the US?

Well, for one, European nations tend to share a common culture, and
indeed, often a common gene pool;

And Europe has "hit bottom" though wars and depression several times
in the last century. That commonality of experience explains a lot.

THE US LACKS THIS EXPERIENCE.

BUT IT IS ABOUT TO GET IT WITH THE RE-ELECTION OF DUBYA FOR A SECOND
DISASTEROUS TERM IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

BUT, WILL ANYTHING BE LEFT TO SAVE AFTER DUBYA II?

Well, probably not much. The sunshine of empire seems to be moving
into the orient now, and little is on offer to stop it.

MY HUNCH IS THAT, AROUND 2020, THE WEST AND THE US WILL DO A
COMPLETE "RE-THINK" OF WHAT GOVERNMENT AND THE ECONOMY ARE REALLY ALL
ABOUT.

BY THEN, SOME KIND OF POST-KEYNSIAN SYNTHESIS WILL BE NECESSARY TO RE-
DEFINE THE ECONOMY IN SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL TERMS;

IF WE ARE A AVOID A COMPLETE RELAPSE INTO PROTECTIONISM, AND WORLD
WAR.

SO, SORRY MR. KRUGMAN. YOU, AND THE LIBERALS, WILL KEEP ON LOSING
FOR A WHILE!

BECAUSE WE ARE ALL "RACING TO THE BOTTOM" NOW.

AND ALAS, THAT BOTTOM IS STILL A LONG WAY OFF.

AND REMEMBER, "ME" BEATS "WE" EVERYTIME!

Postscript: Of course the ultimate in "Me" politics and economics is
fascism!

Fascism is the deadly combination of the greedy rich and
the stupid poor! America could be heading toward some kind of
totalitarian state soon.

Seperately, unless and until the "masses" hit the streets in protest,
real reform of the system at the highest levels will not be
possible.

This type of "mass populism" is nowhere in sight, yet.
Where are the "Bonus Armies?" The "Sit-ins" and "Sit-downs?" The
protest marches?

Sorry. We ain't there yet.....but stay tuned.
