To fully understand America in 2004, on this eve of Dubya's second disasterous term as president, almost requires that you resort to the Dystopia Science Fiction of the 1960's!
To that end, I've started re-reading many of the old classics of the Golden Age of Sci-fi's "Dystopia Era," and I'm amazed and shocked at how closely these old stories resemble America today.
We have our ignorant religious masses, and our evil, greedy and manipulative elites.
We have appeals to "Good" and "Evil;" with "good guys" and "bad guys" fighting to the death.
We have our "evil ones" and our "FuManchu" in Osama.
We have our Wars and rumors of Wars! The killing never stops 24.7.
Now, the ignorant religious mobs are gathering on all sides;
While the "scientific" community is marginalized and demonized and forced into silence out of fear of being called atheists.
The American economy is collapsing around our ears!
IMB sells out to the Chinese, and at a dirt cheap price to boot! Why?
Tens of Millions lack jobs, and health care, and security, yet the elites want to cut back the social saftey net even more!
Even Social Security is now being doomed by the elites;
Meanwhile the once mighty US Dollar plunges to ever new lows.
And Greenspan's printing presses run over-time.
We are told that the elites refuse to pay any more taxes on the money that the Fed is printing---apparently for the elite's PRIVATE USE ONLY!
Even so the masses trust only in Jesus! They cry out to Him for their Salvation and Deliverance from the "Evil Ones." And too Jesus's "Devine Messenger on Earth" in the White House!
We have our evil geniuses, always operating in the background. Our shadowy Rovian manipulation of the mob's stupidity.
Our Dr Strangelove in Mr Cheney, and Wolfie and the Neocons; who have a "seperate agenda" that they are following unknown and unknowable to the public at large.
IT ALL SPIRALS DOWN, DOWN, DOWN.....EVER DOWNWARD, EVER DOWNWARD.........TO SOME FRESH HELL, TO SOME NEW DYSTOPIA YET ABORNING!
