There is much discussion of how Bush plans to repeal the New Deal in his second term.
Well, maybe.....but what does that really mean?
Consider:
I suspect that:
Bush was re-elected so that he could show us, IN DETAIL, how democracy will flower in the middle east; and produce pro-Israeli, pro-American governments and street opinion all round in that troubled region.
And also plenty of cheap oil to keep American land barges and urban assault vehicles running.
True, the Children of the CornBelt are having trouble finding jobs, but being cannon fodder in Iraq, indefinitely, is not why the entire congregation of "The Cornbelt Church of Christ in Jesus" turned out en masse for Republicans.
That said, I have some serious doubts that Red Staters will hold Bush responsible for ANYTHING that occurs on his watch.
They didn't hold him responsible for anything in the first term, why should they start now in thesecond term?
Whatever happens, most Red State Types will simply say: IT WAS AN ACT OF GOD.
And anyway, Bush isn't perfect, but at least he's "saved" like me.
And he's not one of those Democratic Smart Asses who always called me "stupid!"
Dubya is "like me" and I like that.
THE REAL QUESTION IS:
DOES BUBBA HAVE A "TIPPING POINT?"
IS THERE A POINT AT WHICH EVEN A RED STATE BUBBA WILL SAY: "THIS ISN'T WORKING!" "SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG HERE!"
Frankly, I don't know if Bubba is capable of enlightenment on what's really happening to him and his family as a result of Dubya's Compassionate Conservatism.
Bubba voted against "The Homos" and "The Baby Killers" in the November election.
Not in favor of NO JOBS BEING CREATED. Or taking away Social Security and Medicare.
BUT, NOTE WELL, SINCE THE ELECTION YOU HARDLY EVER HEAR ABOUT "THE HOMOS" ANYMORE. NOR ABOUT "THE BABY KILLERS!"
WHY? WHY BUBBA? WHY?
ALL THE REPUBLICAN TALK NOW IS ABOUT ABOLISHING SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE!
AND MORE OFF-SHORING OF JOBS! AND MORE TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH--TO "STARVE THE BEAST" THAT PROVIDES THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET.
AND LETTING THE DOLLAR COLLAPSE TO MAKE THE US MORE LIKE MEXICO!
WHY BUBBA? IS THIS REALLY WHAT YOU VOTED FOR?
Anyway. As the Bushies now assemble to REPEAL THE NEW DEAL, they might want to check the BANK BALANCE ON THEIR POLITICAL CAPITAL AGAIN.
They could have less POLITICAL CAPITAL IN THE BANK than they thought going into Dubya's second disasterous presidential term.
Even a Red State Bubba may have a "Tipping Point."
