With the cabinet shakeout still unfinished, it's clear that Rummy must go, sooner or later.
Rummy is about as scatter brained as Dubya. But, Rummy's screw ball notions are costing American lives and treasure in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Why?
The notion of a "quick strike force" is Soooooo, COLD WAR!
I mean, with asymetrical war now the norm, and with insurgents able to hide inside local populations, the idea of a "quick strike" is pure nonsense!
QUICK STRIKE AT WHAT? THEN WHAT?
You end up with nothing but "Fallujas!" And the "we had to destroy them to save them" reasoning!
So far, it's been at "Wedding Parties." "Family Gatherings." Etc. A hearts and minds disaster!
Eventually you end up with nothing but "Fallujas!"
Here's the point; you simply CAN NOT assume that every large gathering of people is a hostile war party!
We have seen this over and over; and how horrible the consequences are for this flawed reasoning. It's a public realtions disaster. Unless you assume that "just killing people" will "do the trick" sooner or later! IT WON'T!
And note well, the first person to go with the "quick strike" ideal was Hitler!
That's really what the Blitzkrieg, or "Lightening War," was all about!
AND IT WAS A DISASTER in the long run........
Hitler's LIGHTENING WAR ended up in the Siege of Stalingrad!!
And the Russian Winter defeated yet another invader.
HERE'S THE POINT: RUMMY NEEDS TO READ A LITTLE HISTORY.
HE OBVIOUSLY THINKS HE HAS STUMBLED ONTO SOMETHING NEW!
HE HASN'T!
IT'S THE SAME OLD IMPERIAL MIND SET THAT DEFEATED NAPOLEON AND HITLER----AND MANY OTHERS BEFORE THEM, INCLUDING THE ROMANS!
MERELY WINNING THE "FIRST BATTLE" THROUGH A "QUICK STRIKE" IS NOT TO WIN THE WAR! IS THAT SO HARD TO SEE?
THERE IS THE "DAY AFTER' TO WORRY ABOUT. If you are not truly "liberating" the population, but rather "invading" them. You have a problem.
Note well, Hitler and Napoleon also used the "liberation" concept everytime they invaded too.
So, beware of FAKE LIBERATIONS! They seldom work.
Remember, Hitler had his "quislings" in France and in Belgium and elsewhere too. IN FAKE LIBERATIONS THE TRUTH WILL OUT EVENTUALLY. And indeed, no one is really fooled by the propaganda in any event.
And alas, this '"day after" problem has been the biggest problem for Dubya & Co in both Afhganistan and Iraq.
RUMMY IS OUT OF TOUCH! HE SHOULD BE REPLACED. ASAP!
FOR THE SAKE OF AMERICAN SOLDIERS STUCK IN THE DISASTEROUS AFTERMATH OF IRAQ AND IN AFHGANISTAN!
STOP THE MADNESS AT THE PENTAGON!
