TRYING SADDAM, CAPTURING OSAMA

America's quest for "evil doers" continues apace in the middle east, but there could be a down side to all this terrible "swift justice."

Consider:

Both Saddam and BinLaden have a wide following on the Arab Street, and any new focus on either of them could be very de-stabilizing to the region at this point.

It goes without saying that things are not going well for the Western Invasion of Mesopotamia---at least so far.

Iraqi insurgents are literally "at the gates" of the Green Zone almost daily now.

And, the security situation is in critical condition all over the central Iraq, with the only exceptions being "Indepentant Kurdistan" in the north, and the Shia/Iran dominated south.

Very likely, the worst thing that could happen to the western coalition is to "capture Osama."

Osama in custody would be a nightmare for the security of the world.

Because many in the Islamic Tradition consider Osama to be a sort of "wandering holyman," even a latter day Prophet of Islam!

SO, FOR THE WEST, CAPTURING OSAMA WOULD BE TRULY TO TAKE A TIGER BY THE EARS!

AND THE BACKLASH ALL OVER THE EMPIRE OF ISLAM WOULD BE VERY UNPREDICTABLE.

But, my hunch is that the western leadership knows all of this; and those efforts to "catch Osama" are sort of: "Ready or not here we come, you better hide!"

BECAUSE, ALL HELL COULD BREAK LOOSE IF OSAMA WAS IN A US JAIL! So everyone seems to producing "news" for their "domestic audiences" nowadays.

But, what about Saddam?

The news that his "trial" will start after the "elections" could prove interesting.

Most international law agencies feel that the the trial would be a sham under international law. There is really no government in Iraq now, so it's "writ" is questionable.

And, if Saddam is tried publically while the Iraqi people are suffering mightily under the occuaption--an outright rebellion could develop quickly.

IN SHORT, TRYING SADDAM THAT THIS POINT COULD BE RISKY BUSINESS IN AN IRAQ ALREADY UNSTABLE AND IN NEAR FULL SCALE REVOLT.

THE CREDIBILITY OF THE US BACK PUPPET GOVERNMENT IN THE "GREEN ZONE" IS FALLING DAILY NOW.

AND, ANY SADDAM KANGAROO COURT TRIAL COULD PUSH STABILITY OVER THE TIPPING POINT.

TRYING SADDAM AND/OR CATCHING BINLADEN MIGHT JUST BE THE LAST THING DUBYA AND THE NEOCONS SHOULD WANT AT THIS POINT.

IT WOULD MADE HEROES OUT OF THEM ON THE ARAB STREET, WHICH SO FAR, HAS BEEN RELATIVELY QUITE, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED.

BEST TO LET THE SLEEPING DOGS LAY?

AT LEAST UNTIL DUBYA CAN GET A MILITARY DRAFT GOING IN THE US, TO BRING AMERICAN MILITARY MANPOWER UP TO SPEED FOR THE LONG LONG HAUL AHEAD.
