Today the world embraces, with total hopelessness, the prospect of having to deal with Bush & his handlers for four more years.
There is a sense of gloom and doom that resembles 1939.....everyone knows what's coming, but everyone is hoping it won't happen.
America has become a proto-fascist state in the eyes of most of the world. Almost utterly friendless.........in a hostile world.
The general public was manipluated by the Rovian Republicans with their Three "R"s of Religion, Racism and Hate Radio.
Yet Friedman, etal, have done a disservice by persistantly supporting the ill-planed war catastrophe in Iraq. And encouraging another war in Iran will be the last straw for the middle east.
While the "swing kids" of Iran are wonderful and all that....they are not a causus belli for another war. Because once the bombing starts those same swing kids will be as anti-American as the "nice Shia" in Sadr City were and even are to this day.
Israel is in greater danger now than ever because of Bush's slavish support of Sharon and the Likudnics West Bank Annexation Plans.
And the Bank of China is apparently the sole support of the dollar now.
Any "bond panic" that results from Dubya's screwball notions, at home or abroad, could end this little experiment in Neocon Imperialism quickly!
The only hope for those outside the Religious Right now is to have no hope.
