In the Sunday Times;
FRIEDMAN SAYS: Before the war, I said of Iraq, "We break it, we own it." Today, my motto is, "If they own it, they'll fix it." America's standing in the Muslim world will improve, not when we get a better message, but when they have more control. People with the responsibility and opportunity to run their own lives focus on their own lives - not on us. More of that would be a very good thing."
Ahhhh.....be careful what you wish for Friedman!!
After all doesn't the SAME LOGIC apply to the Palestinian situation?
If the Palestinians "owned" Palestine---"they'll fix it."
And of course by implication:
...."when they, (the Palestinians), have more control, "we" wouldn't need a "better message."
And alas, Friedman: If Palestinians were:
"People with the responsibility and opportunity to run their own lives (they would) focus on their own lives - not on us. More of that would be a very good thing."
WHAT'S GOOD FOR IRAQ NOW IS ALSO GOOD FOR PALESTINE.
AND, WHAT'S GOOD FOR IRAQ AND PALESTINE WILL CERTAINLY END THE PAST 40 YEARS OF HYPOCRISY IN AND ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST.
If Friedman is right about Iraq today; he surely must have been wrong about Palestine yesterday!
FRIEDMAN'S FALLACY REVEALED!
