Krugman's fear that Dubya will be able to manipulate public opinion through constant fear of terror may be a bit misplaced.
There is no doubt that Dubya & Co. would love to keep the public in a constant state of shock and awe through PERMA-WAR AND DISINFORMATION.....
But what Orwell and Krugman both missed is that Crying Wolf has limits....you CAN go to the "Well of Fear" too often. People become cynical. A Soviet style "under-ground" political class develops
And most important, sooner or later, BIG BROTHER goes broke! As happen with the Soviet State in the 1980's. And look at the Dollar and Oil today!
Bush's Orwellian hold on the American Public is coming to an end. The cycles of history are working against Dubya & Co. now.
