The new Bankruptcy Reform Bill is exactly the wrong move at the wrong time. Still this is really quite common historically. The Smoot-Halley Tariff law was credited with deepening the Great Depression.
It seems that when the chips are down, and everything is going to the extremes, its everyone for themselves....and the powerful will protect themselves EVEN IF it trashes the general economy and dooms a nation to depression or even war.
IT TIMES OF TROUBLE THE PRIVATE GOOD TRUMPS THE PUBLIC GOOD........IT LEAST UNTIL PEOPLE GET THEIR WITS ABOUT THEM AGAIN.
This is really like a "disaster scenario." First you run away and save yourself....only later do you go back to save other people.
