Amid the speculation on the next Pope, few believe an American will be choosen.
But it's time for the FIRST POPE FROM THE NEW WORLD......!
I expect that the next Pope will be from THE AMERICAS, North or South.
With a huge Catholic population...a Pope from Latin America would be the best bet.
Another European or Italian Pope would be seen as backtracking, and would simply not make a statement....and the Papacy, like the Nobel Peace Prize, has been all about makeing a geopolitical statement.....
If John Paul was the anti-Communist Pope, the Next Pope will be anti-Globalism and in favor of the poor.... This has immense implications for American foreign policy and even monetary policy.
If the New Pope starts to advocate for "fairness" and "helping the poor" Wall Street and Washington will have a hard time coming up with wedge issues that work on a GLOBAL SCALE.... What plays in the Red States of the US loses something in translation in most of the world.
MY HUNCH IS THAT THE NEXT POPE WILL BE VERY PROBLEMATIC FOR THE US....AND THESE POLICY DIFFERENCES COULD JUST BE THE LAST COFFIN NAIL SEALING THE FATE OF THE DOLLAR.... With much of the world now ANTI-AMERICAN....a New Pope that reflects world opinion should be expected.
Postscript: And a social democrat Pope with Mr Bolton at the UN would be a perfect scenario for more anti-Americanism...and further sell offs of the dollar.
