With Katrina America's true face was shown to the world...
America has a vast underclass, both black and white; these people suvive on miniumum wages and often without health care.
AMERICA IS ABSOLUTELY UNPREPARED TO PROTECT IT'S PEOPLE....THAT WAS THE LESSON OF KATRINA.
With the bottom half of the income distribution literally living hand to mouth...and without any clear social safety net; many have to "pay" their medical bills in bankruptcy court...
With the concentration of wealth at the top there is little hope for the future.
BUT THE REPUBLICAN RICH MAY BE IN FOR TROUBLE...as soon as 2006.
Many Bubba Republicans were duped by Bush on national security and gay bashing last time. But the combination of $3 gas and the Katrina coverage could wise Bubba up.
The stock market has been moribund despite Greenspans LIQUIDITY PANIC which took rates to 1%...now all we have to show for it is a weak dollar, expensive oil and massive debt much of it tied up in the HOUSING BUBBLE! (Although many in the CEO class did get to "distribute" their "under water" stock options!)
AMERICA EITHER GETS A PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT SOON...OR IT MAY BE TOO LATE.
Frankly, I think it's too late already...The American People are just too stupid to save themselves from the Perils of Republican looting....it's just about over for the USA.
