WELCOME NYT OP-ED FORUM 'REFUGEES"

KUDOS TO THE NYTIMES FOR CLOSING THEIR OP-ED FORUMS...

Alas, the op-ed forum had become a chatroom for various and sundry nutcases...perhaps fewer than 50 posters dominated the board.

And little if anything was posted concerning the daily editorials or the op-eds...but this type of "degeneration" is common in all "open posting formats" on the Internet.

At the end, it was almost impossible to wade through the drivel and ravings by mostly ignorant or "conservative" posters...to find anything remotely resembling "rational content."

I did my best to provide the forum with occassional contributions...usually only one per day. But the flood of raging "conservative chat" was just too overhelming...

That said, it is odd that the Times would choose to eliminate arguably the most important forum they had going...after all, editorial and op-ed content is the very soul of any newspaper.

Perhaps the op-ed forum could have been better "moderated" and the number of daily postings per reader limited to avoid the worst aspects of the "chatroom?"

Good Luck on what comes next.
