DID US INVASION SAVE SADDAM FROM EXECUTION?

The execution of Saddam, in the wake of the ill-planned US invasion of Iraq, would be the worst possible idea for Iraq at this time.

Not only would European condemnation be heaped on the US support for the death penalty for Saddam...but the legality of the invasion itself would be at issue. Again.

Clearly, the "court" that is currently trying Saddam is not the court of a legal "nation state."

The court is the product of the invasion and occuaption, since there is no legal government in Iraq now...and there will not be, until after the elections this week...if then.!

The Saddam trial is therefore really just a public diversion...a side-show, that is emphasising in the minds of many Sunnis, and other Arabs, the extent to which the US has been willing to go to impose it's will on the Iraqi people and on the region as a whole...

ANY EXECUTION OF SADDAM UNDER THESE STRANGE AND CONFUSED CONDITIONS WILL BE QUESTIONED SEVERELY; AND NOT ONLY BY THE MUSLIM WORLD...BUT EVERYWHERE...

SADDAM IS BEING MADE INTO A MARYTR FOR MANY MUSLIMS WORLDWIDE.

... IF YOU WANT TO "FIND" ANOTHER BUSH MISTAKE IN IRAQ...LOOK AT THE TIMING OF THE SADDAM TRIAL.

It will simply divide the Iraqi nation even more and call into question the legitimacy of the coming Iraqi government.

..or was that the plan all along...?
