The Evangelicals are supposedly:
The Republican "base" for the economic looting, tax cuts for the rich, moving jobs off shore, a failed health care system and the economic collapse of the American Family caused by the collapse of the US economy...
And also the uniquely Republican Gospel that Jesus wants you to be poor, sick and working for less than a living wage... Why?
Because, if Israel reclaims the West Bank and Gaza and rebuilds the Temple...Jesus will come back and "convert the Jews" to Christianity...!
No word if the Jews will go along... but whatever...there are still lots Muslims to kill in the meantime.
Then of course there are those pesky homosexuals, who "aren't like us."
The conventional wisdom among progressives and intellectuals is that the Evangelical base of the Republican party is "too stupid" to notice "Whats really happening..." or to see the Real Hidden Agenda of the Neocons...
Well, maybe, but it's also clear that the Neocon agenda has nothing whatsoever to do with "converting the Jews" to Jesus...! So get used to it Bible Thumpers! You're being played for suckers by Wall Street and your Republican puppetmasters.
And GET REAL before your kids are fighting in the middle east with no body armor while the rich get yet another tax cut!
Personally I don't think the Republican Evangelical base is as stupid as their Neocon puppetmasters think... My hunch is that "the base" is going to smarten up nicely in the coming months...
