Perhaps...but why bother? GM is a manufacturing Zombie... It's functionally bankrupt; and bankruptcy was invented for just these kinds of situations.
The only reason to keep GM going is as a symbol of long gone American Industrial might... GM belongs in the Smithsonian next to the Spirit of St Louis. A relic of a by-gone era.
And a merger with Nissan...? Oh pleeeease... Nissan has it's own problems without buying into more.
