If the US merely wants to "democratize" the middle east...that's doable.
Indeed, there have been elections is Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and the Occupied Territories...
Of course, the US does not always "accept" the results of these elections when they go against "US interests." But whatever...
BUT, IS THE REPUBLICAN AGENDA REALLY DEMOCRACY...OR IS IT DOMINATION.
The Domination Agenda is a little more problematic. And indeed, it's THIS agenda that seems to be playing out in the headlines everyday...EVEN WHILE THE RHETORIC IN THE PRESS IS SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY...!
If the Neocon plan is to get Arabs and Muslims to give up their "lifestyles," and accept western ways and western culture...and also to make the middle east "safe" for US multinationals...? We have a BIG problem.
Unfortunately, the latter agenda seems to be the real agenda of the Bush Administration... Hence the current conflict.
As a matter of history the REAL Neocon/Bush Agenda of Domination ALMOST NEVER WORKS OUT... ESPECIALLY IN THE MODERN ERA WHERE GENOCIDES AND MASSACRES SIMPLY AREN'T "PC." JUST LOOK AT ISRAEL'S PROBLEMS IN LEBANON RECENTLY!
ATTEMPTS TO CONQUER AND OCCUPIED MAJOR NATIONS...OR TO PUT DOWN HUGE POPULATIONS THAT PRACTICE A DIFFERENT RELIGION OR SOCIAL STRUCTURE IS VERY DIFFICULT...PERHAPS IMPOSSIBLE...
AND IT'S , FOR SURE, IMPOSSIBLE TO BE DONE "ON THE CHEAP" AS THE NEOCONS ARE ATTEMPTING NOW IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN...
Amazingly, during all of yesterday's Annual Orgy of Self Pity...NOT ONE MENTION OF ISRAEL'S OCCUPATION OF PALESTINIAN LANDS WAS MAKE...
Yet in the middle east that is the only thing they talk about...!
Yesterday was all about: "Why do they hate us?"
Or, "They hate freedom" and other such pure nonsense that's totally out of touch with the facts on the ground...
In truth the American public is being systematically ISOLATED from the true state of affairs in the middle east by the US media...
The feeling is that IF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC "knew the truth" they would start to act like Europeans regarding the real causes of the middle east conflict... Namely, they would blame Israel for the occupation of the West Bank...and the continued strife in Gaza...
THE ENTIRE US FOREIGN POLICY IN THE MIDDLE EAST IS DESIGNED TO PROTECT ISRAEL'S GOAL OF A GREATER ISRAEL ON THE WEST BANK...WITH THE EVENTUAL ANNEXATION OF PALESTINIAN LAND...AND ULTIMATELY THE EXPULSION OF ALL ARABS FROM "BIBICAL ISRAEL"...
OF COURSE, AMERICANS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO KNOW THIS...
SO WE HAVE THESE NONSENSEICAL CONVERSTIONS THAT DOMINATED THE MEDIA YESTERDAY... THESE DIALOGUES THAT MAKE NO SENSE TO ANYONE WHO IS REMOTELY IN TOUCH WITH THE TRUTH....
IT'S ALL ABOUT:
"WHY DO THEY HATE US?"
THEY HATE US BECAUSE WE'RE GOOD AND THEY HATE FREEDOM.
OR, WORSE YET, THEY ARE THE NEW "FASCISTS."

UNTIL THERE IS A REAL REGIME CHANGE IN WASHINGTON...
AND UNTIL THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IS ALLOWED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT...
WE WILL SIMPLY HAVE MORE OF THE SAME...
AMERICA'S "NEWS GHETTO" WILL CONTINUE TO CONFUSE AND CONFLICT THE FACTS ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST.
SO IS IT ANY WONDER THAT THE ALREADY OUT OF TOUCH...AND GENERALLY STUPID...AMERICAN ELECTORATE IS SO CONFLICTED.
VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD IS TRUE IS A LIE...
AND EVERYTHING THEY THINK IS A LIE IS THE TRUTH...
THIS KIND OF DEEP AND PROFOUND STUPIDITY AND DEMOCRACY ARE TOTALLY INCOMPATIBLE.
