If Dubya & Co want to have a fight with Kerry in the last week of the election...BRING IT ON!
Kerry should be pounding the Iraq War for the rest of this election cycle... It's amazing how the Republicans can twist something like Bush's dismal war record into a positive talking point...
And Democratic criticism of the botched war effort into criticism of the troops...
Republicans simply shouldn't be allowed to get away with this...THEY SHOULD NOT SET THE TERMS AND DEFINE THE AGENDA...IT'S JUST THAT SIMPLE.
Democrats need to have their "zingers" and talking points thought out in advance...
Because, unfortunately the Democrats are not as good at "ad-libing" as they should be... Democrats seem like deer in the headlights whenever they start talking policy on Republican terms...
What they need to do is:
START TALKING POLICY IN DEMOCRATIC TERMS...
UNLESS AND UNTIL DEMOCRATS LEARN TO SET THE AGENDA AND DEFINE THE TERMS THEY WILL CONSTANTLY BE PLAYING DEFENSE... NOT GAY MARRIAGE...HEALTH CARE. NOT STEM CELLS...LOSS OF JOBS. NOT FLAG BURNING...THE TRADE DEFICIT... ETC. ETC.
IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND...?
WE ARE ONLY DEBATING THE REPUBLICAN'S SET OF ISSUES!
EVEN AS DEMOCRATS REFUSE OR NEGLECT TO BRING UP THEIR OWN ISSUES!
NO WONDER THEY'RE "DEFEATOCRATS!"
DEMOCRATS ARE EVEN CRITICIZED FOR NOT KNOWING HOW TO CLEAN UP THE BUSH/NEOCON MESS IN IRAQ...
EVEN AS REPUBLICANS ACT LIKE THEY ARE OFF THE HOOK FOR MAKING THE MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE... THIS IS NUTS!
AND IT SHOULD BE POUNDED HOME TO THE AMERICAN ELECTORATE AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY...!
