Religion is a dangerous political tool in the wrong hands...and it always has been.
If Religion is really the opiate of the masses.... right now the world is full of raving dangerous dope addicts!
As a secular humanist agnostic, who is also a pan-religionist of sorts,...I feel sort of left out of the current faith frenzy... Because while I have to tolerate the religious ravings all around me...I think they are essentially the nonsense that comes from weaker minds...
And to those who say we agnostics are missing the mysticism that the religious feel...I would disagree....
What could be more mystical than "String Theory...?"
Is Mr Hawkings "singularity" less mysterious than the "Trinity?"
Do the "ancient texts" have more to say about life than the genome project...?
All I see the "ancient texts" doing is deluding people into becoming homocidal maniacs...
What a great world it would be if the ancient texts were banished from popular culture...and put in museums for display and study...
Religiosity should really be treated as a mental illness...
Of course we agnostics do have fewer "holi-days" than the others.... But that can be changed...perhaps we celebrate Einstein's birthday. Or Newton's discovery of calculus? Or the publication of Origin of the Species. What great and more appropriate holidays those would make!
What's it worth to be rid of this "My God is bigger than your God" nonsense talk...!
