What will the coming "surge" accomplish...?
Consider:
The Shia Government in the Greenzone has been playing Bush like Yasha Heifetz plays the fiddle!
During the "surge"...
The Americans will start kicking in doors and bombing Sunni neighborhoods in Baghdad, while their allies, the Shia "army," (a/k/a the militia of the Sardites), sits back and "translates" for the Baghdad Sunnis:
"Leave the country, or the Americans will kill you...and if they don't we will."
What the surge will really accomplish is the ethnic cleansing of Baghdad of ALL SUNNIS...
The Sunnis simply are not going to hang around to have their families killed by the surge, or afterwards by the Shia militia government, which is supported by the US.
Now, if and when this "surge" hits Sadr City? ...That's when all Hell Breaks lose...!
Any attempt to disarm Sadr and his militia will bring down the Greenzone Government immediately...
The Greenzone Shias may simply resign straight away and join the Sadrites...who are their main backers... In fact, I would predict that the Iraqi Government will resign very soon no matter what happens... The PM has already said he doesn't want the job...and is sorry he took it in the first place...! 2+2=?
And that's when it gets really interesting... Because the US will be back to governing Iraq as an army of occupation, not under the current sham "constitutional" scheme...
In the process...ALL OF BAGHDAD COULD BE REDUCED TO RUBBLE...AND MOST SUNNIS WILL HAVE LEFT THE COUNTRY...LEAVING IRAQ TOTALLY UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE IRANIAN SUPPORTED IRAQI SHIA...(ALAS, ONCE OUR "GREENZONE" ALLIES!)
In truth, I now agree with a variation of one old VietNam era "maxim"....
IN ORDER TO SAVE BAGHDAD...WE HAD TO DESTROY IT...!
THE SURGE WILL BE CHAOS ON STEROIDS...UNLIKE ANYTHING SEEN SINCE WWII.
GOD HELP ANY US SOLDIERS WHO ARE ASSIGNED TO "SPEND THE NIGHT" IN THESE BAGHDAD NEIGBORHOODS...!
THE RESULTING HOUSE TO HOUSE FIGHTING...INDISCRIMINATE BOMBING...AND WHOLESALE KILLING OF CIVILIANS WILL SHOCK THE WORLD!
JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT BUSH COULDN'T MAKE ANY WORSE OF A DEBACLE IN IRAQ... WE HAVE THIS!
