There is a lot of talk about how the Democrats are going to stay "conservative" to keep power in Congress...
But I don't see it... While Miss Nancy may be a centerist...some of the old bulls who run the committees are die-in-the-wool NEW DEAL PROGRESSIVES!
The Democratic committee leadership is right out of the 1930's-1960's liberal tradition...
And not a minute too soon... Consider:
What the US needs now...is a revival of the middle class...which has been duped by Republicans into voting for Free Trade, No Pensions, Low wages and Expensive Health Care....all based on fear of homos, abortionists and blacks...
The Republicans were leaning on a thin reed to maintained their power.
The operating assumption was that the less educated voters in "red states" would never wise up to the real Republican agenda;
Which believes in the DIVINE RIGHT OF INTERNATIONAL CAPITAL...TO OPERATE WITHOUT REGARD TO NATIONAL BOUNDRIES...OR LOCAL ECONOMIES.
My hunch is that a lot of Bubba Republicans have wise up...perhaps under the rubric of "Iraq" but really out of concern for the decline of the middle class... Playing the "class card" is not allowed in American politics...but the "war card" is fair game...
What the US needs now more than anything is UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE...so US companies can get the insurance/health care lobby off their backs once and for all...and not have to relocated to civilized nations that have national health care programs already in place... Or the the slave labor economies of China and India.
UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE NOW! AND FORGET ABOUT THE "MINIMUM WAGE"...
NO ONE MAKING MINIMUM WAGE HAS HEALTH CARE ANYWAY. AND IF THEY HAD HEALTH CARE...THEY COULD PROBABLY "SURVIVE" ON THE CURRENT MINIMUM WAGE...!
ALSO REMEMBER, OUR TRADE DEFICIT BASED DOLLAR COLLAPSE WON'T WAIT FOREVER! ...IT'S COMING CLOSER EVERYDAY!
