A Start...?
When the markets are in a long period of unreality...these big down days just seem like a force of nature...
The markets simply can not outperform the economy over the long haul. It's like trying to outrun your own shadow... It's just impossible.
This is a market that very much needs a long, long resting period... Even if we are in the middle of the beloved "sucker season..."
Additionally, the overall economy is really not that healthy. True, the FED has been printing money for the financial (good) sector...and has been assured that "globalization" will keep wages down. But there are limits to everything. Right now the limits of the business sector to make good use of ever more FED dollars is starting to bite.
Even Hermetically sealed markets like ours can go down big...because much of the so called "value" is in the "hyper-liquidity" induced inflated price of stocks; which have a multiplier effect both on the way up, and on the way down...
