In the future only the poor will own...hard assets..that is to say, only the poor will possess, things, objects or other "material possessions"
The Rich, on the other hand, will own only "abstractions"....for example, Stocks, Bonds, Paper Money, E-Cash, Credit, Insurance Policies, Annuities and Retirement plans...
These abstractions will be supported by exclusive Elite control of the "Means of Thinking"...not the "Means of Production"...!
This is the real meaning of our so-called "Knowledge Economy."
The means of thinking will be the mass media, print and broadcast, The Internet, Radio.
And of course, Religion...and the Right to use military force and police power.
These abstractions owned by the Rich will be "borderless." They will therefore never be controlled by the State...which will be confined to "taxing" the poor on their now nearly worthless "stuff" and other material possessions.
There will soon be a massive liquidation of "real stuff" by the Rich....as they seek to divest themselves of their material possessions.
The Rich will realize that in the coming Post Consumerist World...where material goods are mass producted in huge quantities...ownership of material things will be the true badge of poverty.
And remember, material possessions can be controlled by the state...taxed, siezed or otherwise confiscated...
The poor will be "allowed" to run this once and future State of Dystopia, in the name of democracy.
Even real estate will be seen as a needless burden...and therefore only attractive to the poor...the rich will rent their real estate from the over-taxed poor...!
The poor for their part will be reduced to selling and exchanging their nearly "worthless stuff" on places like Ebay...and other Internet Venues... The poor will be reduced to a "barter system" using material goods...not unlike the economic system of ancient times...!
What is coming at the macroeconomic level could be called:
THE GREAT LIQUIDATION....
AND IT WILL BE HAPPENING A LOT SOONER THAN MANY PEOPLE THINK...
