What is interesting in the video of this collapse is that the bridge collapsed straight down...there was no twisting on the way down no torque...it's almost as if support was lost simultaneously on both ends of the bridge... I suspect terrorism...that is being hushed up. It would be impossible to reproduce this scene in an engineering lab WITHOUT planning the collapse in advance.
Here's a photo of the bridge before the collapse...click image for larger view. The foreground piling seems vulnerable to tampering...or a natural failure. There is an incredible load bearing down on only a few small points of contact in this bridge design. Also note the sheathing on one beam in larger photo...what is that?
