If jobs are extinct as I think they are... Self employment is the only way to go...for Americans
Most of the world is self employed...in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia...there are no real "jobs" its mostly small scale sellers.
Mostly these small sellers are on the street, or in what we would call flea markets or swap meets (out west)....
These are the same people who run convenience stores and gas stations in America today...because this is the type of work they did back in their "old country"...India, Lebanon, Egypt or where ever... Small scale selling...
In foreign countries the streets are filled with "street sellers" hawking everything from food to tube socks...this is the kind of "atmosphere" Americans travel to see...
Note that these are very high density cities...which Americans may NOT be able to reproduce... Its easier to be a street seller in New York. Istanbul or Cairo...than in Fargo...!
Today the foreign bazzars and souks of the world are tourist attractions for some Americans...but they may become the "New Reality" for Americans...
A lot of this Federal stimulus money should be spent setting up "small selling venues" for the new American unemployable class...and they should be sales tax free zones...like the Internet...!
The very notion that someone is going to pay you money to sit and do some boring task...is fading from the American mindset...
Who is going to pay you...if there are no value added jobs left in the economy...?
