Borders should keep a few big stores open...and do the rest online... There is no need for Big Box new bookstores now...except as "showrooms" for books people go home and buy online.
Most new and used books will be bought online soon...
And no one goes to a used bookstore now...on the off chance that they will have a specific odd or out of print title...you go directly to the Internet for that...these days
The flip side is that there may now be room for Independents to reopen...as used/new booksellers...with coffee shops and galleries etc... The B&M bookstore has become an entertainment venue more than a retail venue...
