Anyone who is desperate will do anything... And right now a lot of people are getting very desperate for jobs and health care...
Health care is out of reach for most people...except those already "on the dole"...with Medicare, Medicaid, or Veterans...all of which are single payer systems...and work well... But could work even better without fee for service for profit insurance as their basis...
So many problems could be solved with single payer...everything from employer mandates...which are nuts today... To workers comp and auto accident injury coverage...which are expensive and could be rolled into single payer...
Single payer would ripple though the economy freeing up people to move around...and allow employers to quit worrying about health insurance companies...and massive annual premium hikes
Canada has had single payer for decades...and their economy has boomed while the American economy went broke...chasing Wall Street Bubbles...
But Americans don't do things because they are right...or logical... They have to exhaust every possible Big Lie...every wedge issue...every hatefilled rant...and go the to brink of collapse...then they do what could have been done decades ago...with a lot less trouble...
Health care in America is like the Afghan War... ITS NUTS...BUT WE JUST LET THE SPECIAL INTERESTS CONTINUE TO LOOT...
It also helps to have a really really stupid electorate ...that is willing to believe anything...as long as its a right wing Big Lie...
