The Chinese are not really "internationalist types"....they always were very isolationist...even from their earliest history...
China's new role as "world economic leader"...is going to be tough for them... almost impossible.
Because they aren't the back slapping American types...
It's a brave new world when an "introverted" isolationist nation like China suddenly has to perform on the International stage...
England and the US could pull it off... But I don't think China can do it...
They see themselves as either "Lords of the Universe" ...or "Victims"...and those are not winning attitudes...
England was a old time "White Man's Burden" do gooder imperialist...who wanted to teach democracy and cricket to their colonies...
And the US was a hodge pot of nationalities and races...who "saved the world" in two wars during the 20the Century...
But when both France and Germany tried to be "like England"...and "have colonies"... they failed miserably and where hated by everyone...
America still has a big advantage of not being an old nation...with an imperial past...
China will never be able to pull off the Anglo-American internationalism...its not in their DNA.
