People "forgave" FDR when he was struggling with a Republican Great Depression...from 1932 to 1936....
FRD didn't have Fox to deal with...the press was more "mainstream"...but there were the makings of crackpot Fascism and Nazism just under the surface as with Fox today...
And naturally...the Republicans were ranting then just like they are today...about being blamed for "their depression."
Back then Social Security was opposed by Republicans...just like health care reform is today.
Likewise...the people will forgive Obama today...because he is doing all the "right things" only they are not working because of the massive post bubble damage to the Wall Street Republican Looted economy...
Today's Republicans need to remember...that in 1936....the Hoover Depression was still raging...
