Here's why you need tariffs... If the rich flee (like traitors!!)...you need some way to make it harder for them to play in your domestic economy...
It would be great to pay Chinese wages for production...and sell at US prices...! As Wall Street had done in the US until the Bush Collapse in 2008!
Let the rich leave...but slam the tariff door behind them... Let them move to GongDong Province and sell their cheap stuff there...to workers who make $2 per day...!
That way those who stay in America will be able to employ Americans to make the stuff they sell...RIGHT HERE...! No problem with velocity of money...if the money stays local as much as possible...
This notion has not quite sunken in yet with the ruling class in Washington...
But as they flounder around aimlessly...like now...it will become apparent to them eventually...
