I agree that America will collapse at some point... I'm not sure that 2012 is the year...
The system can muddle through a lot of problems... But very likely when 'the end' comes it will be quick and "out of the blue"...sort of like September 2008...
Western Capitalism has essentially collapsed...its running on fumes and the printing press...everyone knows this...
The jobs are not coming back from Asia...at least not without an intervening Great Depression...and something else where the blank for "World War" used to go in the history books...perhaps a short exchange of nukes in the middle east..call it the "Six Minute War"...or a "new plague"...
Conservatives want Austrian style Capitalist "destruction"...but they can't get the destruction they need... That said mere $5 gas would snap the US economy into a Catatonic state...immediately...!
My hunch is that by 2050...we will have planned economies on a socialist basis...but with a fair amount of private enterprise...
