The run on the Euro in Greece could be a serious problem...
My question is why can't Greece have TWO CURRENCIES....a domestic Drachma...and also the Euro...
Cambodia has a domestic currency but uses the US dollar for most serious transactions... The same in Russia...where everyone has a sock draw full of US $100 bills...
The new Drachma could be a script currency used for local small transactions in the marketplace...while the Euro is the unofficial currency of larger businesses...
After all..that is the Role the Dollar has played globally for decades...especially in very small nations where the "national currency" is really thought of as "play money"...mainly for use by "the locals..."
Net-Net Greece was a mistake for Euroland...these are not the Greeks of ancient daze... Today's Greeks are more Slavo-Turkic... More middle eastern and Slavic... than European...
Postscript: But if they trash the Euro by a default...they best get into Dollars or Gold...ASAP...
