Governing requires the "consent of the governed"...EVERYWHERE...but there is no evidence that Muslims "want" Western style "one person one vote" democracy... In fact that style democracy has problems...even in the US...!!
As we see everyday in the news... It tends toward mob rule...and Dumbacracy...!! You get the Teabaggers...and Muslim Brotherhood types...
EVERY SYSTEM PRODUCES FACTIONS AND MALCONTENTS...SOMEONE IS ALWAYS LEFT "OUTSIDE"...BECAUSE NO SYSTEM IS PERFECT AND PEOPLE ARE NOT PERFECT...
In many places in the world the consent of the governed is less about voting...and more about "rule by elders"...or "heads of households"... These tend to be clan based or tribe based cultures...and they are really the majority in the world outside the Anglo-European West... India "learned" democracy from the Raj...but it is a very wild place still...were family and caste mean a lot...
So this notion of imposing Jeffersonian Democracy on the World is just NEVER going to work... Rule by Heads of Clans or Elders... still has the input of the "governed"...but just not by "our way" of doing it...everyone voting directly.
Democracy may not even work HERE in the US...where Jefferson started the idea...
Its being tested again this year...
