Hitler and Napoleon where in a class by themselves... But they were politicians and nationalists...not magical beings...or demons... Just politicians who were on the scene at a special point in history... If they had been born +/- 10 years they would never have done what they did...
Some would say if there were no Hitler or Napoleon...we would have had to invent them... Both Hitler and Napoleon came about because of a MASSIVE national catastrophe... With Hitler the German defeat in WWI ...with Napoleon the chaotic aftermath of the French Revolution...
Both stupidly invaded Russia...and were defeated there... But the English got the credit for the final victory...in both cases...!
The lessons of both...are that nations that have experienced a huge catastrophe...go a bit crazy...
America is in danger of that now... If something really bad happens in the next few years....the right wing NUT JOBS are already organizing to DO SOMETHING STUPID...
