On the political level, news that Richard Perle and the neocons want to "liberate" the Shia of Eastern Saudi Arabia (where the oil fields are!) Can not be going over too well, with the House of Saud! Now they have to worry about Osama and Mr Perle!
Very likely, when the history of this era is written, all of this daily yada-yada will be reduced to THE WAR FOR OIL!
And, there have been a lot of worse reasons that have started wars.
