DEAN SEEKS "PARTY WITHIN A PARTY?"

Dr Dean's prescription for the Democratic Party seems to be to lead
a "party within a party."

By staying in the race, but promising to support the eventual
nominee, Dean could become a major power broker. And, could actually
form a "wing" of the party, for the more disenchanted Democrats who
in the past have been prone to "third party tendencies."

Clearly, the Democrats have been hurt most by these "reformist"
candidates, like Perot and Nader.

Indeed, but for Perot and Nader, it could be argued that
the "minority" Democrats are really a majority of the electorate.

In the same way that the Republicans are going to try to hold on to
the Bubba Republicans;

Including the NASCAR dads, who have little in common with Wall
Street's agenda, and the soccer moms, who are conservative on social
issues, but anti-war and pro-social equality.

Perhaps, the "party within a party" model is an idea whose time has
finally come.

"E PLURIBUS UNUM" COULD BE THE DEMOCRATS WINNING STRATEGY THIS TIME.

BECAUSE THE "THIRD PARTY" TENDENCIES OF THE LAST FEW ELECTION CYCLES
HAVE REALLY BEEN HURTING DEMOCRATS BIG TIME!

DR DEAN COULD BE THE BEST REFORMER YET, BY STAYING WITHIN A MAJOR
PARTY AS A GADFLY, AND NOT PLAYING THE SPOILER, AS NADER AND PEROT SADDLY DID IN THE PAST.
