Amid all the to and fro in the market, the Friday Jobs number is key.
The clownish monkey-see-monkey-do economic community is sticking to
their story of 150,000 new jobs.
And, who knows, sooner or later they may get it right. Or, at least,
be "in the ball park!"
BUT, I DOUBT IT!
This January didn't feel like 150,000 new jobs.
Just the POLAR WEATHER alone could impact construction.
And, state and local governments are in ROUND TWO of deep budget cuts.
As for the private sector it feels like same old, same old.
Everybody comes home from work nowadays with a story about who "got
it" today!
THIS IS SIMPLY NOT AN EXPANDING JOBS ECONOMY! NOT YET. PERHAPS,
NEVER AGAIN.
Off shoring and down-sizing are alive and well.
And while Wall Street is putting on a happy face, somehow the rest of
the economy seems punk. Corporations are up to their Old Tricks and
now have some new ones, like the "weak dollar" to make their numbers.
Corporate governance is still in critical condition.
And, the prospect of PRESIDENT KERRY is still an "unknown unknown" as
Rummy might say!
But, My hunch is that EVERYONE, including Wall Street, will be happy
to see some GROWN-UPS back in charge at the White House. Send those
strange little "neo-cons" packing!
And, who knows maybe Kerry's "patrician roots" will make him Wall
Street's choice before the coming election!
Have you noticed a "vailed hostility" toward Dubya in the WSJ
lately? Or, is it just me?
MY HUNCH IS THAT WALL STREET WOULD PREFER TO HAVE A PRESIDENT WHO HAS
HAD BOTOX ON HIS FOREHEAD;
RATHER THAN ONE WHO SEEMS TO HAVE HAD BOTOX ON HIS BRAIN!
FRIDAY'S JOBS NUMBER COULD BE A REAL TREND SETTER!
AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED AT A DISASTEROUS NET JOB LOSS!
WHERE, INDEED, IS THE NEW JOBS STRENGH GOING TO COME FROM?
IT'S LIKE HOPING FOR A REPEAT OF THE "MIRACLE OF THE LOAVES AND THE
FISHES!"
SO, IF DUBYA GETS 200,000 JOBS ON FRIDAY?
CALL THE POPE!!
