Tom Friedman says in the NYT today that he has not watched or read
anything about the 911 comission; BECAUSE HE HAS ALREADY MADE UP HIS
MIND!
Well, it's been quite clear for some time now that Friedman has been
taking his marching orders from the Israeli Lobby in the US, so
nothing is really new here.
Still, I think it's dangerous for the US as a whole to follow the
Likud Party line, without question.
For one thing;
MOST ISRAELIS DON'T FOLLOW THE LIKUD PARTY LINE WITHOUT QUESTION!
It now appears that Sharon will be indicted in Israel, and perhaps be
forced from office.
And I think that would be a very good thing for Israel; in the longer
run.
HERE'S WHY:
SOONER OR LATER, BOTH ISRAEL AND AMERICA ARE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN
TO LIVE WITH MUSLIMS AND ARABS!
It's just inevitable. OK?
Sharon and Dubya's view that "just killing Muslims" will solve this
problem eventually is plain nuts. And worse, its dangerous.
It behooves those who love Israel to control the radical elements in
Israeli politics now. Because those who seek a "Greater Israel" may,
in truth, doom Israel's future in the middle east.
For example, those who want to retake the Temple Mount, and "re-build
the Third Temple" had best wait for some "divine intervention," and
not just jump the gun, and take divine planning into their own hands!
In the US, Arabs and Muslims are becoming an ever bigger part of the
overall population.
Because of our very low birth rates among native born Americans, the
US is, or will soon be, "dependant" on foreigners, (whose women have
not been "liberated" into the joys of professional careers), for new
births!
Indeed, I was at a shopping mall recently where the only people with
small children in strollers, or in tow, where foreigners, or at least
Middle Eastern or East European in appearance.
The point is that Anglo-Americans and Eurolanders are not reproducing
fast enough to win the geo-political Game of Demographics. Indeed,
teenage birth rates in the US are at all time lows!
Have these young Americans "found Jesus," or can't they "find jobs"
that pay enough to support a family?
Alas, sooner or later, demographics is destiny.
Thus, Israel may be doomed as a "Jewish State," but perhaps it can
survive as a middle eastern nation.
And, the US can not stop every person who "looks like a Muslim terrorist" from entering the country.
Nor can we search every bag on every train or plane, or those crossing the borders by car or truck.
This is a game we simply can not win.
So, when Mr Friedman and Mr Sharon and Mr Bush simply "quit listening" you can bet that THAT is a bad thing.
A very bad thing, indeed.
