Today's WSJ op-ed wonders about the MYSTERY JOBS.
These are jobs that show up on the household numbers but not in the
company numbers.
The op-ed goes to great pains to disprove the SELF EMPLOYMENT THEORY;
that people are just simply setting up businesses instead of looking
for real jobs.
PERHAPS.....But that leaves an even MORE ominous possiblity.
COMPANIES ARE HIRING PEOPLE "UNDER THE TABLE" TO AVOID PAYING PAYROLL
TAX AND HEALTH INSURANCE!
COULD THIS BE THE SECRET SOURCE OF THE MYSTERY JOBS?
Considering the large number of Hispanic illegal workers in the US,
IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT HOUSEHOLDS ARE SEEING MORE JOBS THAN APPEAR
IN THE COMPANY NUMBERS!
Perhaps, there is an UNDERGROUND JOB MARKET THAT IS NOT BEING
RECORDED IN OUR NEW SERVICE INTENSIVE ECONOMY?
