Israel is now the "Big Army that couldn't..."
In that they join the US as a"large military power" that has forefeited all moral authority to the lure of "smart bombs" and nukes.
Indeed, "nukes" are just about useless nowadays...
Unless Israel or the US decide to commit War Crimes on a massive scale. And ominously Israel went a long way toward showing it has no regard for human life during the recent "war" in Lebanon.
But you gotta feel sorry for Israel... They can't get along with their neighbors...
THEY, LIKE THE "AUTISTIC" NEOCONS IN WASHINGTON, DON'T "PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS."
Their sad "no talk" list is nearly as large as the pitiful and misguided Neocons. And they are almost as universally hated as Cheney, Dubya et al.
If all Israel is is a "Club Med" for wealthy Jews from America and Europe...then it's just the most distant "suburb" of Miami Beach...?
Perhaps Israel should simply give up this obsolete notion of a "Jewish State".... and become a Middle Eastern Nation integrated into the economic and social fabric of that region.
Israel is losing the demographic war with their Arab neighbors...and indeed with the Arabs inside Israel...
At some point there may not be a need for a Jewish State at all. And Zionism may have become a 20th Century notion that no longer has any justification.
In short, Israel may have the "Right to Exist," but does it have the "Will to Exist" or, ominously, even the "Need to Exist"---except as an obsolete notion in the minds of older Jews who still remember the 1930's and '40's.
In a hundred years, Israel, if it is still around, will likely be a secular state that includes ALL PEOPLE of the region...Jews, Christians and Muslims...THAT is really the key to Israel's longer term survival.
And NOT remaining as an outcast Zionist "Boutique State" that was really the obsolete construction of 1940's Post War Europeans and Americans.
