I finally went to the "Dark Side" and bought a Kindle Touch with 3G...on sale...
And I've already downloaded 325 free out of print books on it...! And there is still room for about twice that number...
If you are into classics...and out of print exotica...Kindle is a great way to get tons of free stuff...
Free is good...I think...
The 3G actually works at Starbucks for general web surfing...but the page is micro-small...in a pinch its a browser...but not for real surfing...
The screen is about the size of a MMPB...and its hard to get used to not being able to flip the pages around...but the screen also "focuses" you on THAT PAGE...and forces your eye to read to the end...
Reading on a Kindle would be an acquired taste...but so is using a keyboard for writing...its probably doable... And for the younger generation it will seem natural...
The massive amount of out of copyright material...could be a challenge to the antiquarian bookseller over time...once people realize that you don't need to pay $100s of dollars for books...and can get them free at AZ...!
The Kindle could do for reading what moveable type did for printing... A Guttenburg Moment...perhaps...
