PEG POUNDERS UNITE!
There are two types of jobs in America today.
There are the "peg pounder" jobs and the "personality plus" jobs.
Peg Pounders are "task doers." Task doers perform various functions for businesses like flipping burgers, keeping books, fixing servers and taking out brain tumors.
Personality Plus jobs are "managers." Managers are essentially unskilled except for their ability to "schmooz." Big tits are also an advantage for managers, except for male managers. Managers essentially schmooz other managers, and occasionally talk to the Peg Pounders that "work for them."
Personality Plus managment jobs are very highly paid. Peg Pounders usually earn $50K per year plus or minus $10K. Peg Pounders are JUST earning "their keep," plus benefits like health care.
Recently, I was talking to two "Peg Pounders" who were preparing for their "annual evaluations" by their respective department heads. These "evaluations" apparently were deemed "necessary," despite the fact that both workers have been doing essentially the same jobs for several years without complains.
They were both "allowed" to "comment" on their evaluations which would "determine their annual raises."
My "comment" was that they should take their "evaluation sheet" into the toilet "wipe their ass" with it and return it, thus "commented upon," to their manager's desk.... Hmmmm?
But they exclaimed--we'll lose our health care, the credit cards will default and the kids will have to drop out of college!
Alas, we Americans alone in the world do not have National Health Care.
And debt is a problem now that the Republican Kongress passed our new Bankruptcy "Debtors Prison" legislation.
And as to the kids college?
Well, maybe we don't need another generation of Peg Pounders.
Maybe the kids can go off and start a business, or write the Great American Novel, or just flip bugers as they "follow their bliss" outside of the Dismal Peg Pounder Universe of our sad Suburbs and Exurbs.
Maybe the kids won't have to wipe their asses with their evaluations!

Someone should do an "index" for economic activity IN THE LOWER HALF of the income distribution...it might be very enlightening in the coming months.
The "rich" have been carrying the US economy for too long. And that should be ending soon with higher rates and an end to the "home equity" ATM Machine.

"The decline in family violence is part of a whole web of positive, mutually reinforcing social trends. To put it in old-fashioned terms, America is becoming more virtuous."
THE DECLINE IN VIOLENCE IS CAUSED BY A GENERAL DECLINE OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE US POPULATION...and TO YOUNG FOLKS ECONOMIC INABILITY TO "FORM FAMILIES" IN THE FIRST PLACE....BECAUSE OF THE NEW LOW WAGE ECONOMY.
NOT, BECAUSE OF SOME SUDDEN UPSURGE IN BIBLICAL "MORALITY."
There are fewer young people today than in the 1960's and 70's. There was a BIRTH DEARTH in the 70's, remember?
The elimination of the WELFARE STATE MADE IT HARDER FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO FORM FAMILIES. Especially, considering the simultaneoul decline in MALE WAGES during the same period.
THE ONE REAL "BENEFIT" OF ENDING WELFARE WAS THAT THE YOUNG AND THE POOR BECAME MORE SCARED AND LESS SAUCY...
Welfare was very "liberating" for the poor and the young...it let them be sexually active WITHOUT FEAR...
REMEMBER DURING THE DAYS OF THE WELFARE WONDERLAND THE GOVERNMENT ACTUALLY PAID YOU TO HAVE BABIES!

NOW THE YOUNG ARE STUCK IN THE LOW WAGE ECONOMY. OFTEN LIVING WITH PARENTS OR DOUBLING AND TRIPLING UP IN APARTMENTS...
AIDS and the poor economy have made the young more circumspect (moral?)
...NOBODY PARTIES TOO HARDY ANYMORE... After all, you have to get up for work in the morning just to pay the rent, if you have to pay rent.
SO, DAVID, CHECK YOUR DEMOGRAPHICS AND LEAVE THE BIBLICAL REVELATIONS TO THE CROOKS IN THE EVANGELICAL GOD SQUAD!!

And the jobs that are being "created" are low wage services jobs, and temps, without benefits like health care. And the "spread" between jobs sectors looks too fake...perhaps the revenge of the "fudge factors" again? to wit:

ARE NATURAL CYCLES OUR ' INTELLIGENT CREATOR....?'
Naturally occuring cycles are common in nature... Eg. electons, planets, galaxies, etc.
These natural cycles can eventually be viewed as "laws," thanks to the invention of "language"--which is ALMOST USELESS in it's ability to actually "describe reality."
The interaction of these natural cycles over time will EVENTUALLY produce anomalies, conflicts and collisions; which can be seen as randomness or chaos over the very short term of human perception.
The restoration of equilibrium is what we call "evolution."
So;
If there is a God...He is the one who causes these cycles in the first place. Everything else is merely man-made "interpretation" of what the cycles are.
SCIENCE IS THE BEST CHANCE WE HUMANS HAVE AT GETTING KNOWLEDGE.
RELIGION IS A DANGEROUS DISEASE THAT HAS NO PLACE IN THE 21st CENTURY, OTHER THAN TO "EXPLAIN" TO ORDINARY PEOPLE WHY BUSH REFUSES TO PASS NATIONAL HEALTH CARE.

INTERNET IS FREE TRADE ON STEROIDS....
The Internet has acted like a Free Trade Steroid
mainly because the large economies have refused to protect their markets and technological advantages...
The Internet has also allowed the unprecedented diffusion of technology to occur at record speed.
The fact that we are entering a LOW WAGE WALMART-WORLD is undeniable...however, the question that needs to be answered is what will the US look like in 2020....IF CURRENT TRENDS CONTINUE.
Will America be an economic backwater that blew it's vast economic legacy on USELESS WAR SPENDING?
An economy looted by the wealthy elites, while the masses were distracted with gay-bashing and religious nonsense?
Even as China and India invested in the Internet...and productive plant and equipment?
Can American kids EVER compete with Indian and Chinese students, when Americans only look up to sports figures and entertainment celebrities?
ARE AMERICANS REALLY CULTURAL LUDDITIES MORE THAN TECHNOLOGICAL LUDDITES?

SPACE JUNK.....
Let's face it, after the Bush Tax Cuts,
the US can't afford a space program now. And flying te Shuttle on the cheap with parts and equipment made by Bush-Cheney Cronies is a Risky Business.
The future of space for the next 100+ years will be in the unmanned "probes" which are better at collecting data without risk to human life. Manned space flight was really just a Cold War Publicity Stunt..... Its all but over now.

BOLTON AND BUSH....onward Christian Soldiers?
Sending Bolton to "reform" the UN is almost as big a mistake as
sending Bush, the BORN AGAIN FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIAN, to "reform" the Fundamentalist Islamic middle east.
In both cases there is the notion of a deep disrespect for the persons and institutions being thus "reformed."
Bolton will be recieved at the UN with all of the enthusiasm of a registered sex offender at a Boy Scout Jamboree.... He will be closely watched and every word and action analysed.
Many of the problems at the UN can be attributed to financial and diplomatic disengagement by the US and the Bush unilateralism.
The UN is, in effect, a low budget operation, trying to do "peace keeping" on the cheap. Maybe Bolton can do something about that....?
