Fox News loses if Romney wins...Here's why...
If Romney "wraps it up" with Florida...Fox 'news' loses big time...they need the rants to get their ratings! They don't "cheerlead" well...
Then we can start talking about what it means to have a President who is keeping all his money in Off Shore Tax Havens...not in America...!

Romney needs someone to spice up the ticket...
A woman VP from the south would help... Rubio might deliver Fla...but he would turn off the rest of the country... What has Rubio done or said to even be considered...? He's a frat boy with a bad attitude about the problems of real people...
His only appearances in public are mostly to deny that he wants the VP position...and the rest is strictly the bland Republican talking points of the day.
Has he ever expressed policy positionS...that are not about Cuba...which is not a big priority with the folks in fly over country these daze?
Halley would be the best choice...

The Democratic embrace of Free Trade...is probably the biggest reason that Americans are still suffering without jobs...
The Obvious Problem is the off shoring of good jobs to low wage nations...yet Democrats continue to spout the discredited notion that Free Trade "Opens up Markets for American Goods"....
Curiously...the tariffs come off on stuff foreigners export to us...BUT NOT on the things we would export to them...!

These days a lot of people aren't into heirlooms and history... There is a whole new attitude about things now...post Internet...
The current generation knows no history...and just doesn't care... We might call this the "Post Classical Era"... Nothing pre-1990 interests anyone...
We have had a Cultural Revolution...not unlike what happen in 1968...
Eras end with hard breaks...1789, 1848, 1914, 1932, 1968...and you can never go back.
The exact year of this break is still unclear...2008 is a good candidate if the Depression doesn't end...
Perhaps the "break year" hasn't happen yet ~ but its coming...
Nothing matters that happen before the IPO of Pets.com...!

The US has been run from New York and the East Coast from the start...and it still is...and that is why the South is still a problem... There is more to Red States and Blue States than politics... Its about wealth, power and control... America is a bi-coastal power...Atlantic and Pacific...
Fly over Country...and the deep South are not really players on a national level...and that is getting worse by the day... Hence the Tea Party....
If the current national Depression turns out to be "unsolveable"...as well it may... It is very possible that the union will break up before the end of this Century... And the South will go its separate way...as a Latin American style low wage zone attempting to compete with Asia and South America...
If the nation is in a perma-Depression... a lot of scape goats are going to be needed...and quick...
Likely there will be a move for the South to pull out of the Federal Union before the end of this Century...

OBAMA WINS REPUBLICAN DEBATE....!
There were no winners in tonights Republican debate...in fact none of them made the case for switching Presidents...!
Obama is doing just fine...especially compared to the Republican alternatives...
Where they differ with Obama is mostly in areas that make no sense... Like a flat tax for millionaires...or just abolishing health care reform with no ideas on what's next...in fact Romney made a spirited defense of Romneycare...that was very Republican...stop the freeloaders...!
These guys are contenting for the Republican nomination that isn't worth squat in 2012...

At the state and local government level Republicans do offer some push back to the public sector unions...who are often in control of politics locally...
The problem is that reduced private sector incomes...can not support the old style public sector wages and benefits...
On that level I actually agree with the Republicans...
Old style unions...private sector unions...had a "social justice" function in the 20th Century... Workers Comp, Child Labor, Workplace Safety, Pensions and Health Insurance, Social Security, Civil Rights, etc...but much of that good stuff has now been PUT INTO LAW...
As an instrument of social policy unions did their job...in the 20th Century... But merely to extort higher and higher wages and benefits...in a declining economy is not benefiting the public now...

TO bring jobs back from China is going to take something more than lower wages for American Workers... Some protection of the domestic market is needed...
If there is an economic theory that shows how extremely low slave wages are sustainable for Western Consumer Capitalism...I'm all for it...
The notion of protection is as old as the trading economy itself...its ancient...!
Notions of Free Trade have always been political not economic... Its not really a valid economic theory in the long run...in its extreme it falls apart...just as extreme Keynesianism is doing now. But Keynes admitted that when he said "in the long run we are all dead"...
Valid economic theory demands some kind of equilibrium and sustainability...otherwise everything collapses... As we see now...!
When Free Trade was developed...it was all about maximizing the "natural advantages" of different nations...to produce things... You buy bananas from Columbia...not Canada...! Etc...
It was never about low or slave wages as happens in China and parts of Asia... The Era of greatest growth in the US was an Era of greatest protectionism...

How to Save America....in a Nutshell.
The problem in America is the looting and off shoring...
Everyone is afraid to tell the people what happen... Worse Republicans, like Paul Ryan, want the looting to continue at the expense of the Working and Middle Class...
We need:
1. Canadian style Single Payer Now... paid for by...general revenues
2. Cuts in the War Budgets at the Pentagon...cuts of 1/2 are needed.
3. A $10 tariff on every Chinese made I-Pod and TV that comes into the US...just to keep the roads in good shape for delivery of Chinese made goods sold by US corporations....
4. Reversion to a progressive tax system...with high rates 50%+ on the mega wealthy who take the most out of the system...
Simply put in America the looters got out of control...and now is the time to bring them back with higher tax rates...
Unfortunately ...because of special interests and looters power...and Trailer Trash Republicans who are mostly duped by Racist nonsense... It may take another big collapse before any of this happens...

HAVE REPUBLICANS ABANDON THEIR "BASE" VOTERS...?
If Republicans were not such mean spirited and greedy bastards...you'd almost feel sorry for them at this point...
But Bad Karma will catch up with you...
I feel sorry for Fox too...having to justify the top 1% to their audience who are basically the bottom 70%... Fox really seems to be struggling to maintain their status as AM Hate Radio...on Television...
Their problem is that things said on Fox by Republicans only "sound good" inside the Fox Studio Echo Chamber... Every 2 to 4 years however...the Fox types have to leave the studio...and go out an face real people...and the Lamestream media...
I was shocked in the last debate how detached the candidates where from the regular people asking questions... With these candidates...every "answer" is tax cuts for the rich...followed a mantra ("Shining City on a Hill or Take America Back or Something about Freedom, Liberty or Free Markets")....then...of course...followed by a Hate Obama Rant...to the effect that Obama is the : "Worse President in History")....
Those real people just have blank stares after their question is answered...

Obama will probably win reelection...
But it would be nice to give the Republicans back their DEPRESSION...and let them figure it out...
Romney claims he would let everything collapse...The banks, housing...the auto industry...Wall Street...just let it all RIP...!
Health care reform...cancel it...for what? Dunno...? Yet...but anything but Romneycare...!
That would be fun to watch...
Maybe he'll get his chance...
But my hunch is that Romney is a coward as well as a flip flopper..and he will follow the advise of the real economists...(non-Laugher Types)... Because so much of Republican economic theory is just unsupported by the facts... Dubya proved that with his unfunded wars and entitlements...and his tax cuts...
As a Progressive...I would be very happy to have Obama lose...Americans don't deserve a progressive agenda...and they are not ready for it... One more Republican in the White House should "cure" them for a generation...

FOX REPUBLICAN DEBATE HIGHLIGHTS DESPERATE PEOPLE...
Today's Fox-Huckabee Republican "debate" sounded rather odd...
Nearly all the people seemed desperate for help...unemployed, uninsured...broke, foreclosed on...or can't sell their house...too old to work. but too young to retire...etc etc...
No rich dudes telling their God Bless America story...
These folks did not seem like people really concerned with conservative notions about "Big Government"...
They seemed more concerned with their mere survival...!
There seems to be a serious detachment from the world view of the Republican candidates...and the economic realities of their Republican voters...
The only thing that "unifies" supposed Republicans is their hate for Democrats and Obama...and a few talking points like Pro War and Anti Abortion...
....Which in the case of most of these people seems misplaced...given their dismal economic condition...

The notion that Obama has been Pure Evil...and accomplished nothing to reverse the Bush Depression is just not true... But they just keep ranting...
